mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmFred Boland's Photo Album:

San Luis Obispo, September, 1929

About a year after he hired out, Fred used his pass privileges to take a trip to Southern California. He shot these photos while headed home, as a helper was being added to his train. Whether or not this was the Coast Daylight is arguable, since pass riders presumably were only allowed to ride secondary trains at the time. Note that the road engine is a Pacific, five year old P-10 #2487. The coach hooked onto the row of cabooses may have been a spare rider coach, or possibly one pressed into temporary service as a caboose.
