International Scout II Front Axles for Your Willys Wagon
|
Back to Useful Stuff | ||||
| International Scout II front axles have been a standard changeout for stock Willys equipment for many years. Their open knuckle design is stronger than the OE closed knuckle design, you get a tighter turning radius, and best of all, you get disc brakes. | ||||||

| The 1978 Scout (4.09 ratio, about right for 33 inch tires in combined highway and off road use) front axle on El Rock Ape, mounted spring-over (with reversed spring shackles - an absolute MUST DO to improve handling). The ticklish part is insuring that your steering geometry conforms to specs. Frankly, I don't recommend spring - overs for Wagons, because it makes them too teetery. If you want clearance, go with wider axles, or graft your Wagon body on to a K-5 Blazer chassis. |
