Oregon and Northwestern Railroad Baldwin AS616 #4 at the Burns, Oregon enginehouse, May 1979: Note that, the day of this photo, an O&NW mechanic told Wx4 staff that he figured the Balwins each LEAKED about 35 gallons of lubricating oil per every hundrded mile roundtrip on the line. A few years before, staff encountered one of their Balwins on a train descending a hill just after sunset during a moderate snow, and was able to pace it for some time - the sights and sounds vividly linger in memory to this day.
