Yellowjacket #4449's 1984 tour included plenty of opportunities for employees to swarm over the locomotive unharrased. In that regard, Oakland, San Jose and San Francisco all received overnight visits.
On the San Jose - San Francisco - San Jose legs, Engineer Mike Gondron was the pilot on the up train of June 21, 1984, while Engineer Greg Welker was the pilot on the return run the next day.
